Kalón, virtue and eudaimonía in Aristotle

My main goal, in this article, is to put into question the traditional reading, according to which, for Aristotle, there was a privileged path to eudaimonia, which would entirely dispense with honor and ethical virtues: the so-called contemplative life. This is not about defending an inclusive view of eudaimonia in contrast to a dominant or selective view, as there is no incongruity or incompatibility between books I and X of the Nicomachean Ethics, if we consider what is said by Aristotle in Politics. The key to this reading is the kalón. As the target of ethical virtues and prudence itself, the kalón would be the decisive instance that would make eudaimonia itself viable.
