The law on stasis ascribed to Solon became the subject of a debate in Roman times, due to its paradoxical nature. Its ancient interpretations allow us to discern different views on the nature of political participation, calling into question the distinction between Ancients and Moderns, the basis of a long tradition of liberal thought.References
