Truth as event: the Heideggerian interpretation of the allegory of the cave.

We propose to discuss how Heidegger's interpretation of the concept of aletheia as “unveiling” clarifies his understanding of truth as an event that concerns the being of Dasein and that constitutes the ‘historicity’ of the history of metaphysics, since, according to the thinker, it is a decision about the essence of truth and an interpretation of the being of beings that mark an epoch of metaphysics. In his analysis of the Allegory of the Cave, narrated by Plato in Book VII of the Republic, Heidegger exposes the character of the modification from aletheia as the unveiling of the being of the “beings” to the Platonic proposition of truth as the ‘correction of the gaze’, which will give rise to the interpretation of truth as the ‘adequacy of the intellect to the thing’, just as he interprets the stages of the prisoner's movement out of the cave towards the sunlight as an existential event.
