Gineceu: segregação ou integração femininas?

In this article, we propose to think of the gynaeceum, a traditionally feminine environment in the oîkos, not exclusively in its physical dimension, but as a sociocultural space for specifically female convivality in classical Athens (5th and 4th centuries BC). We will distance ourselves from interpretations that treat the gynaeceum as an ideological sphere of social and gender segregation for the citizens' wives and daughters. We will defend this space as one marked by the social integration of female groups. The Attic images painted on ceramic support will be the essential documentation for this study. It is important to emphasize that the imagery texts will dialogue with literary texts of different genres.
