Abstract

The Portuguese word Ambiente comes from the Latin Ambiens, which means “turn around, from the verb Ambire: ambi: “around”; more ire: “go”; – ambi, in turn, comes from the Greek αμφ (amfi), which also expresses the idea of “around”, “on both sides”, “in and out”; ambi also refers us to the old Latin word ambigo, “to discuss”,“to enter into controversy”. In this sense, we aim to present a set of facts, evidences and postulates that demonstrate the belonging of Hans Jonas to certain ambientes (environments), in all its ambiguity, in its controversy.
